If you have been dropshipping for a while, then you would know that having the option to sell your products on marketplaces like Etsy, eBay or Amazon can be quite an advantage.
When you sell on popular marketplaces like Amazon or eBay, you leverage the trust that people already have for these platforms and reach out to more customers.
MerchMixer knows that Shopify offers a lot of neat integrations with other marketplaces. That is fine with MerchMixer, and we are supportive of merchants selling on other marketplaces. But before you do that, there are a few things to think about:
Marketplace fees — some platforms charge additional fees for selling on their marketplace.
Limited support — MerchMixer was designed for Shopify and can only offer limited support for issues related to selling on other marketplaces.
Shipping lead times — It typically takes 3 to 5 business days to supply tracking information to end customers. This can take longer during the holidays and emergencies. Make sure that your SLAs/lead times on other marketplaces reflect this.
Many marketplaces require that merchants submit documents authorizing them to sell products from particular brands. MerchMixer is currently working on obtaining these documents for our merchants. In the meantime, we recommend removing products from your store that trigger these brand warnings.
You may sell MerchMixer items on any number of other marketplaces. This might help you gain wider distribution and get your items in the face of new consumers. However, the main issue is that some of these platforms can be extremely strict, and we have no say over how they deal with our merchants/sellers on those platforms.
